Solstice at Lee’s Summit resident Mary Lou White becomes “Rosie the Riveter” once again

Mary Lou helped develop over 6,000 B-25 Mitchell Bomber airplanes at the Kansas City Fairfax plant in 1944 by soldering wires onto the planes. Now in her late 90s, Mary Lou was able to help restore a plane she previously worked on 78 years ago, the Sandbar Mitchell. With her contribution, the plane will be fully restored and back in the sky by 2025, which will honor the ship and crew of 43-27537 “8z” of the 340th Bomb Group, 488th Bombardment Squadron, that was lost on a mission over Italy in 1945.
