Steppingstones on Your Path to Wellness

According to the National Institute of Wellness, wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.

At Solstice, we meet residents where they are in their health and wellness journeys to become their healthiest selves. Our Path to Wellness program focuses on enhancing the wellness of each resident’s mind, body and spirit through activities that interest them. Residents may choose to participate in individual or group wellness programming, including on-site physical therapy services, to stay fit, happy and healthy.

Our health and wellness programming encompasses three steppingstones to assist residents on their Path to Wellness:

Mind – one challenge at a time
Daily mental exercises are just as critical to wellness as physical exercise. Just as muscles need strengthening, the more you exercise your brain, the stronger it will become. Exercising and engaging the brain can improve sleep, boost mood and self-confidence, promote new cell growth, strengthen brain functioning, and even prevent memory loss.

Through this steppingstone, Solstice residents can complete daily challenges, including word puzzles, reading, trivia contests and more to enhance their mental health.

Body – one step at a time
Physical fitness for seniors can help increase metabolism, build muscle mass, reduce the impact of chronic illness and disease, and enhance mobility, flexibility and balance. Exercising the body can also improve the connections among brain cells.

For older adults, regular exercise is especially important. We recommend seniors exercise 30 minutes each day and incorporate at least 3,000 steps into their daily routine. Highly active seniors may set a goal for 10,000 steps each day. We provide our residents with step trackers, walking paths in and around our communities, certificates of achievement, and a variety of individual and group exercise options to assist residents in achieving their goals.

From walking groups to group exercise classes and fitness challenges, we are here to support you every step of the way.

Spirit – one reflection at a time
Spiritual health is beneficial to people of all ages. Caring for the spirit can help prevent feelings of loneliness and depression, inspire hope and positivity, boost immunity, lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, and help with concentration and clear thinking.

At Solstice, we understand every individual holds their own beliefs. Whether spiritual strengthening happens through prayer, meditation, relationships, affirmations, poetry, music, nature, yoga or breathing exercises, we believe making time each day for reflection is good for the soul.

Sometimes it’s not the steps we take, but the energy we put into our wellness that keeps us on the path. At Solstice, there are no limits to how far residents can go. Interested in learning more about how to take the first step toward your Path to Wellness at Solstice? Click here to learn more.
