May Flowers and Good Spirits
How Nature Nurtures Our Well-Being
As May is in full bloom, the vibrant colors and fragrant aromas of spring flowers do more than just brighten our communities. They can lift our spirits, too!
We have all heard that being around plants is good for us, but what do the studies actually prove?

Myth or Fact? Do Plants Improve Mood?
Fact! Studies show that spending time in nature and being around plants can significantly boost mental health. One study involving more than 42,000 older adults found that even a small increase in nearby greenery was associated with lower levels of depression and anxiety.
How Solstice Supports a Vibrant Life
At Solstice, we recognize the power of nature in supporting a healthy lifestyle and a vibrant life, which is why many of our communities offer walking trails nestled in green spaces. These trails are perfect for leisurely strolls and not only are great for physical activity but also support emotional wellness.

In addition to our scenic trails, our communities feature resident-tended gardens. Gardening isn’t just a hobby. It’s also a therapeutic activity that connects our residents to nature in a hands-on way and has been linked to improved mood, cognitive function and even physical health.
With May in full swing, it’s a great time to enjoy the outdoors and all the benefits nature has to offer. At Solstice, we’re proud to cultivate environments where flowers and residents can blossom. Learn more about our Vibrant Life® program and all that our communities have to offer!
